Newborn Bath
If you need help with your first newborn bath, you came to the right place! Like I mentioned earlier, that first sponge bath scared the heck out of me. I think what scared me the most was the umbilical cord. I really didn't know how to handle it. I actually thought about just not bathing the baby until it fell off which was only 7-10 days. I mean, how dirty could a newborn really get?
The truth is, they don't really get that dirty except for the diaper area which you could keep relatively clean with regular diaper changes and wipes but I thought that probably wouldn't be the best way to go. I should probably learn how to do it. So, I knew that you weren't allowed to get the umbilical cord wet,
but what if I did on accident? Would it fall off or hurt or get infected? I felt really stupid calling someone to ask how it was supposed to be done. I knew that I could call the nurses station at the hospital but I felt stupid doing that too. So, we had our computer less than a year and I wasn't really "up" on the "searching stuff on the web" thing but I figured I could try and find something on "first bath" or "sponge bath".
Well, after searching for a while and coming up with thousands of "hits" that were not exactly what I was looking for, I finally found a basic explanation of a baby's first bath. It was not fully explanitory but I got what I needed to get through it. Yay!
Through experience and three children later, I came up with a very easy to understand guide on getting through your first newborn bath with confidence and ease!

You did it! You got through your first newborn bath and maybe even gave him/her a couple more before the umbilical cord fell off.
Now the fun part, the umbilical cord finally fell off and you can bathe them in a baby tub in the sink or in the bathtub. The steps are pretty much the same but you don't have to be so cautious around the belly button.
