What are the reason's for swaddling your baby?

Swaddling is another way of saying "wrap your baby snuggly so that they feel warm and secure".

Many believe that using this technique helps to get their baby to sleep quicker and stay asleep longer. On the other hand, some babies do not like to be swaddled. If they don't, you will find this out quickly. My middle child didn't like it much but let me do it to him if I left his one arm out. You need to find out what's best for your baby.

Wrapping your baby may look harder than it actually is. After just a couple tries at it, you will be a pro! Most parents wrap their baby only until they are a month or two old. Between two and five months is when babies begin to roll over onto their tummies so swaddling wouldn't be a good idea because then they might get stuck face down and be at risk for SIDS.

Look how quick and easy it is to wrap up your baby!

A. Fold down one corner of the receiving blanket like shown in the picture and place the baby with their shoulders even with the crease on the fold. The babys' head should be off of the blanket.

B. Take one side of the blanket and pull snuggly across the babys' body and tuck it under their opposite side as shown in image C.

D. Take bottom corner of the blanket, bring it up and tuck it under the babys' shoulder.

E. Take the last corner, bring across the baby snuggly and tuck under their back.

Voila! You did it!
